PREVENT-A-FLAT is an automated preventative maintenance system designed to increase tyre service life and minimise tyre related down-time costs on commercial and industrial vehicles in both on and off road operational modes.

A viscous base holds fibres trapped in suspension, PREVENT-A-FLAT is injected through the valve stem of both tubed and tubless tyres. When the tyre is inflated and the vehicle commences operation, PREVENT-A-FLAT is activated to help seal leaks, cool and balance the tyres.

PREVENT-A-FLAT is a liquid tyre sealant that is essential in those applications where the continuing performance of pneumatic tyres is ìMission Criticalî to an operation. It is an automated preventative that seals leaks in the tread area of pneumatic tyres the instant they occur. No operator intervention is required as PREVENT-A-FLAT seals punctures utilising the movement of the vehicle coupled with the escaping air attempting to escape through the leak.

Supplied as a liquid, PREVENT-A-FLAT is pumped into a tyre through the valve stem. The valve is reinserted and the tyre is inflated to normal operating pressure. As soon as the vehicle moves the PREVENT-A-FLAT is activated.

Being a liquid PREVENT-A-FLAT coats the interior of the tyre as the vehicle moves. Millions of fibres are held in suspension within the liquid, and it is these fibres that plug the leak.

When a puncture occurs the air held under pressure within tries to escape through the hole. When PREVENT-A-FLAT is installed it passes through the liquid barrier taking the fibres out of suspension and forcing them into the hole. As the fibres are forced into the hole they restrict the passage of the air to the extent that the leak is sealed.

Under working conditions this operation takes place within one revolution of the wheel resulting in negligible pressure loss from the tyre.

The plug formed by the fibres is a permanent seal and uses only a fraction of the fibres held by PREVENT-A-FLAT. This means that any subsequent leaks are sealed in the same way. Once PREVENT-A-FLAT has been installed it is operable for the life of the tyre.

PREVENT-A-FLAT is beneficial in both tubeless and tubed tyres with its ability to seal most leaks as they occur with minimal pressure loss. This ensures that the tyres are maintained at the correct pressure thereby eliminating tread wear through heat build up as a result of underinflated tyres.

Active constituents of PREVENT-A-FLAT can significantly enhance tyre tread life by cooling the tyre whilst it is in operation. The cooling of the tyre reduces heat build up which is a major cause of tread wear.
